How long and how frequent are therapy visits?
Therapy is tailored to the needs of the individual. We have 30-minute and 45-minute sessions. Most often therapy is recommended once or twice a week. There are also instances when more intensive therapy may be beneficial, or when the patient may only need a few sessions over a longer period of time. The scope and duration of therapy will be discussed in consultation with your therapist during the initial visit.

Do you offer Teletherapy?
Yes! Most insurances are currently covering and this has been a wonderful and convenient option for many of our families. All you need is an internet connection and laptop with webcam, tablet, or phone. Call our office for more information.
What should I expect for my first visit?
At your first visit, we will conduct an evaluation that is typically 60 or 90-minutes, depending on the type of evaluation. This diagnostic session consists of collecting background information, discussing any concerns, conducting an assessment with both standardized and informal measures, and creating appropriate treatment goals. An evaluation report is provided within 1-2 weeks with key findings and a recommended Plan of Care.
Areas that we can assess include speech, language, voice, resonance, fine or gross motor, activities of daily living (ADLs), sensory processing, executive function, and feeding/swallowing. We look forward to partnering with you through this process!
To schedule an initial evaluation, please call 615-241-0122 or fill out our contact form. If you have had an evaluation completed at another clinic or school within the last 6 months, you may share it with our intake team. In some cases we can use it and then start with therapy.
Does Arise Therapies accept insurance?
Yes! We are now an in network provider for the following:
Amerigroup
Blue Cross Blue Shield Networks P, S
BCBS TennCare and BlueCare (Medicaid)
BCBS CoverKids
Cigna
Humana
Oscar
United Healthcare
UHC TennCare Community Plan (Medicaid)
Medicare
TriCare (non-network certified provider)
For other networks, we can provide you with documentation when requested for insurance reimbursement. Clients are responsible for confirming insurance coverage. Most insurance policies will cover (partially or completely) initial evaluations even if the therapist is out of network. It is recommended that you call your insurance company prior to your first visit to confirm your policy coverage. You will want to ask about any exclusions for speech or occupational therapy, as some insurance policies cover these therapies but only for individuals with autism, or when there is a congenital defect, as examples. In many instances therapy for developmental delays is not a covered benefit.
Please contact us for information on our private pay options. We also have pre-pay packages available at a discount.
Are there opportunities that would help pay for therapy?
We do not want cost to be a barrier to your child receiving services! If insurance will not cover therapy for your child, there are a few grants / waivers that may be available to you. Click on them to learn more (will open in a new window). We have had families successfully get each of these grants so they can be a big help!

2. Speech/OT: United Healthcare Children's Foundation
3. Speech/OT: Katie Beckett Waiver
